El mundo es un lugar misterioso, sobre todo visto a través de los ojos de un animal. En su camino, EO, un asno gris de ojos melancólicos, se topa con buena gente y otra no tan buena, conoce la alegría y la pena, y la rueda de la fortuna transforma, según el momento, su buena suerte en desastre, y su desdicha en felicidad inesperada. Pero nunca, en ningún momento, perderá la inocencia.
